Its the beginning of May! Which signifies the return of warmer weather and the beginning of the growing season.
As we move closer to those summer months, the seasonal warehouse roles start to pick up for us here at XCL Group, which over the last year has resulted in an increase in part time positions. And while we don’t have a huge amount of part time roles as an agency ourselves, it’s certainly a trend we’ve noticed an uptake in – that more clients may follow in the future.
Well, there are several reasons why companies will offer part time, and prefer to do so over fulltime, with the main reason being the reduction in labour costs. However, other reasons include things such as it offers them more flexibility with a wider pool of individuals, which in turn usually sees an increase in productivity – helping them cover a spike in demand on seasonal projects.
As well as having its perks for employers, part time working does also come with a variety of benefits for employees too. Aside from offering the obvious of flexible working, there are some others which we’ve outlined below:
*Enhanced Work-Life Balance – offering more time for other obligations or commitments i.e. personal projects or family time.
*Career Growth Opportunities – allows you to explore different job roles / industries / sectors before committing full time and also can provide opportunities to increase your network, gaining new skills and experiences with a variety of people.
*Financial Freedom – potentially giving you an extra income to bump up your wage or use towards personal goals e.g. saving & investing.
Based on its many benefits for both employers and employees, we’re keen to see if the part time working trend is something that continues to continue within the industry.
