David Gallagher
Director
David set up Primetime Recruitment in 1992.The business gained recognition as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK with 3 consecutive listings in the Fastrack 100, 2nd fastest growing private company 2 years running in PwC survey as well as a number of other awards. Primetime grew from 6 profit centres to 130 with sales to January 2007 of £113m with a profit of just under £3m, in June 2007 when it was sold it was on target for £130m turnover and profit of £5m.
Prior to this David was a Main Board Director of the Hestair Group with responsibility for the Recruitment division, other divisions within the group were Engineering, Toys, Education supplies and Nursing Homes. This recruitment business was initially based in the UK trading under the names of HMS, Atlas and Rand, through the successful growth of this side it enabled the expansion into the USA where we ended up with over 120 branches.
He has a strong reputation in the recruitment sector with particular strengths in developing and growing businesses and teams of people resulting in outstanding returns for shareholders and investors.
Ewan Gallagher
Director
Ewan came into the recruitment business through Primetime Recruitment when he was just 18 years of age. He set up a trainee scheme in the industrial market and worked at various branches throughout the country in different roles but with a particular focus on sales.
From starting as a trainee Ewan moved through the ranks to become Consultant and then Senior Consultant. He eventually became a successful Branch Manager running one of the top industrial branches in the business with a yearly profit of 200k.
Having a keen interest in the outdoors he also works and runs an outward bounds pursuits business in the UK and Nepal.

I joined XCL in April 2021, as a recruitment consultant and since then have progressed to Branch Manager. Previous to recruitment I was in a customer focused environment, as well as studying at Sheffield Hallam University
What is your favourite thing about working at XCL?
I enjoy working in such a busy, close knit team where everyone works together really well.
I also like the fact that I speak to such a diverse variety of people on a daily basis and there is always something to do.

I specialise in Manufacturing and industrial recruitment, and have a background in the textile industry.

I started working at XCL Group at the start of April 2024, previously I worked in a recruitment role for a leading textiles manufacturer and was keen to develop my skills further within the Recruitment industry.

I would like to say that working with XCL has been a breath of fresh air, I have worked with a considerable amount of recruitment agencies during 27 years of factory management and none have showed the same commitment as XCL.
The interview process that XCL do with prospective employees would seem to be a lot better than other agencies as the turnaround of staff is in comparison much less. XCL also go the extra mile to fulfil the required roles and seem to work tirelessly to find the right people for those roles.
I have been extremely impressed with the ideas that Rebecca and Chloe have in finding people to fill roles where others have failed, especially with them both attending site regularly to register and interview prospective employees. which then enables us to interview a lot quicker.
We currently have about 5 agencies on the look out for staff and at the moment the first phone call is to XCL as we know they will endeavour to work hard to find the right candidate and most of the time they do.
I have worked with the same agency for the last 15 years and have always given them priority on supplying staff, Rebecca and Chloe have impressed me so much that I always speak to XCL first.

We then looked to employ several permanent staff within our specialised manufacturing environment, and again, XCL were able to supply candidates that were fully vetted and specifically meet the needs of the business and our working ethos.
Based on the quality of candidates and the professionalism of the team at XCL, we then looked to appoint XCL in the recruitment of new Production Manager, which was a new critical role within the business, and again the vetting and evaluation of the candidates was excellent. I'd recently left to join another Company but things didn't work out and I contacted XCL and spoke to Luke again and within a matter of 2 hours Luke came up with several options to get back me into employment . I have never come across any recruitment agency who has been so caring and demonstrated the willingness and determination to help and assist without fail.
