David set up Primetime Recruitment in 1992.The business gained recognition as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK with 3 consecutive listings in the Fastrack 100, 2nd fastest growing private company 2 years running in PwC survey as well as a number of other awards. Primetime grew from 6 profit centres to 130 with sales to January 2007 of £113m with a profit of just under £3m, in June 2007 when it was sold it was on target for £130m turnover and profit of £5m.
Prior to this David was a Main Board Director of the Hestair Group with responsibility for the Recruitment division, other divisions within the group were Engineering, Toys, Education supplies and Nursing Homes. This recruitment business was initially based in the UK trading under the names of HMS, Atlas and Rand, through the successful growth of this side it enabled the expansion into the USA where we ended up with over 120 branches.
He has a strong reputation in the recruitment sector with particular strengths in developing and growing businesses and teams of people resulting in outstanding returns for shareholders and investors.
Ewan came into the recruitment business through Primetime Recruitment when he was just 18 years of age. He set up a trainee scheme in the industrial market and worked at various branches throughout the country in different roles but with a particular focus on sales.
From starting as a trainee Ewan moved through the ranks to become Consultant and then Senior Consultant. He eventually became a successful Branch Manager running one of the top industrial branches in the business with a yearly profit of 200k.
Having a keen interest in the outdoors he also works and runs an outward bounds pursuits business in the UK and Nepal.

I’ve worked in recruitment since November 2014, which is also when I joined the team at XCL.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
The fact that every day here is so different, and every member of the team works so well together.

When did you start working at XCL, and how long have you worked in recruitment?
I joined XCL in April 2021, as a recruitment consultant and since then have progressed to Branch Manager. Previous to recruitment I was in a customer focused environment, as well as studying at Sheffield Hallam University
What is your favourite thing about working at XCL?
I enjoy working in such a busy, close knit team where everyone works together really well.
I also like the fact that I speak to such a diverse variety of people on a daily basis and there is always something to do.
Which Area of recruitment do you specialise in?
I specialise in Manufacturing and industrial recruitment, and have a background in the textile industry.
When did you start working at XCL and how long have you worked in recruitment?
I started working at XCL Group at the start of April 2024, previously I worked in a recruitment role for a leading textiles manufacturer and was keen to develop my skills further within the Recruitment industry.
What is your favourite thing about working at XCL?
I love the fact that everyday hosts something different, whether it is liaising with clients or candidates there is always something to keep you on your toes.
Which area of recruitment do you specialise in?
I mainly specialise within the Engineering and Manufacturing sectors.
When did you start working at XCL, and how long have you worked in recruitment?
I Joined XCL at the beginning of June 2024.
I had no previous experience in recruitment before joining XCL Group, but they provided me with the training and guided me every step of the way.
What is your favourite thing about working at XCL?
No two days are the same and it is a rewarding job.
I also enjoy working with such a close-knit team that have made me feel very welcome.
When did you start working at XCL?
I joined the XCL team back in January 2019 as the Payroll Administrator, and have since progressed within the role, to Office Administrator.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
Apart from keeping the office nice & organised....... I like that I work with such a friendly and sociable team, which makes coming to work enjoyable.
